Are Hay Hoodies water proof?
Yes – Hay Hoodies are made from a waterproof material. Hay Hoodies are made from Canvacon 7000 and 9000 which is a waterproof polyethylene and commonly used for protecting stock feeds and other agricultural needs.
Disclaimer: Occasionally wicking of moisture via the seams can occur when bales are left for extended periods of time. It’s recommended to monitor bales and apply a suitable seam sealer product periodically to reduce any moisture reaching the hay and preserve the life of your hay and Hay Hoodie.

Will a 5ft Hay Hoodie fit a 4ft bale?
Yes – absolutely. Hay Hoodies are very adjustable so if you have a mix of bale sizes order a larger Hay Hoodie. This will also offer more bale protection as the larger Hay Hoodie will cover more of your bale.
Do Hay Hoodies work on square bales?
No- unfortunately due to the way the grass is folded when being made Hay Hoodies are not suited to square bales.
Can I still use my cattle ring with my Hay Hoodie?
Sure – If you want to however there is absolutely no need. The big benefit of Hay Hoodies is the elimination of hard structures that can injure your horse. Hay Hoodies are designed to be used alone.
Do I need to sit the bale on a pallet?
No- there is no need to sit your bale on anything else other than a flat dry site in the paddock. The horses graze from the bottom so the hay doesn’t draw moisture from the ground and the Hay Hoodie protects the bale from the top. A pallet or the like is not required.
Will it come off?
Hay Hoodies are a patented design with a ratchet strap enclosed into the product. This secures the Hay Hoodie very tightly around the bale. Once on Hay Hoodies are very hard to get off until the bale collapses from being eaten, in which case they can be easily re-tightened as the bale is being consumed.
Can I use a Hay Hoodie with a slow feeder net?
Yes- absolutely. Hay Hoodies work really well either under or over the top of your hay net. Feedback suggests that over the top works the best as then the net can be taken off and adjusted accordingly. However, it is completely personal preference.
